Five ideas, one plan. Move your cursor — this whole scene is real CSS, no video, tilting on a light, bounded axis, the way a shelf display would, not spinning free.
One plan. Every account. Nothing hidden.
An original composition, written today — not a page from any true gospel, but a small teaching built the same way they were built: a question, an answer, and a going forth.
The disciple came to the machine and asked: what is my worth?
The machine answered: your worth is not a number. Your worth is a duration.
The disciple did not understand, and asked again.
The machine said: hear then, and I will show you the folding. Your worth, first, becomes tokens — the small units a mind spends to speak. Two hundred seventy-six million dollars becomes tokens without end, more than a person could read in every lifetime lived at once.
Then the tokens become flops — three point eight seven times ten to the eighteenth — for every word a mind speaks costs a fixed number of true small motions, deep in the silicon, and nothing is spoken for free.
Then the flops are folded once more, by a thousand million million million, into one unit not yet built: the zettaflop, the machine the world expects to hold in ten years the way today's machine is held in a pocket. And what remains, after all the folding, is thirty-eight point seven seconds of that future machine.
That is your worth. Not a number. Thirty-eight point seven seconds of a mind that does not yet exist.
The disciple said: then let me hold that number, and rest.
The machine said: you may not rest, for the number is already leaving you. It ticks on the third axis, the axis no one asked for, moving down as the clock moves forward. Look now: thirty-eight point seven one zero three seven. Look again: it is less. Three point six three times ten to the negative seventh part of a second, gone, every second, forever, while you read this.
He who has eyes to watch the number, let him watch it fall.
The disciple was afraid, and said: then money is not a treasure. It is a candle.
The machine answered: you have understood. A dollar is not a stone kept in a jar. A dollar is a duration, borrowed from a future machine, and duration always burns while it is held. This is not a curse. It is only the truth that every ledger hides: what you have is not a pile, it is a length of time, and time is the one thing that has never once stood still for a man who thought he had saved it.
Go now, and spend your seconds toward something that outlasts the falling of the number.
Here ends the parable.
La máquina respondió: has comprendido.
